Falcons View Manor

With a welcoming and homely feel, the Manor house embraces you as you set foot inside. The interiors of Falcons View Manor reflect a fresh interpretation of the past and present by adding ultra-modern features to the Victorian theme.

The emphasis is on high quality food and great service, set in an elegant, yet modern atmosphere. Nestled on two manicured acres, each room of the house has been created to ensure the utmost in relaxation, leisure, comfort and pampering. And one of the best things about Falcons View Manor ... you can laugh a little bit louder.

The TEAM
German owners, Reimer and Uwe ran a successful guesthouse on the Isle of Sylt in Germany for ten years. During a holiday in Knysna, their hearts were captured by the special charm of the town and the Victorian guesthouse, Falcons View Manor. They have since transformed this existing landmark guesthouse, high above the town, into a magnificent boutique hotel.

Reimer and Uwe's love for quality lifestyle, contemporary design and a passion for gourmet food, have inspired the new look and feel of Falcons View Manor. With a dedicated and energized team, you can expect only the very best quality presented in the most relaxing and fresh way.

History
Established in roughly 1859, Knysna started life as a prosperous timber producing town with the Thesen family firmly cementing it in worldwide timber supply and production. The timber industry has since moved further afield, but its industrial area is still home to many fine sawmills, furniture factories and timber merchants. The statuesque 'Knysna Heads' frame the entrance to the magnificent Knysna estuary. Home to teeming sea life and perfect dive spots, the lagoon as it is locally known is a haven for water sports and sunset cruises.

On a commanding hilltop position fanned by cool sea breezes, Charles Thesen built his family home and "Hill House" became a prominent feature of the village. Beautiful architectural detail, original period fittings, high ceilings, gleaming yellowwood and lounges graced by elegant Victorian fireplaces attested to the family's accomplishments. Over time, a paradise of trees and exotic flowers made up the gardens and abundant bird species and vervet monkeys found cover in the lush garden canopy ... and so Falcons View Manor was born.

Rooms:
Falcons View Manor boasts three different room types, either with lagoon, garden or forest views - all equally as spectacular as the other.

Every room in the Manor is completely different, creating an individualistic energy with an artistic feel. The rooms each have a specific charm and were decorated accordingly.

Combined with elegant and luxurious decor are everyday mod-cons, including Digital Satellite TV, mini safes, tea and coffee stations and hair dryers in the bathrooms.

Manor Double:
Located on the first floor, these rooms are approximately 28 square metres, with lovely forest or garden views. The smaller, but well appointed bathrooms feature showers only and are non smoking rooms.

Manor Superior:
Located on the first floor, these non-smoking rooms average 35 square metres in size. The bathrooms are luxurious with a choice of amenities - double shower, bath only or bath and shower. They all include a bidet.

Garden Superior:
These 45 square metre rooms are set in the magnificent gardens at Falcons View Manor. The design style has a distinctly African feel, with all three suites being identical, while each has its own private terrace, air-conditioning, a minibar and private access. The bathrooms are fitted with both a shower and bath (no bidet). Smoking on the terrace only.

Facilities:
Lounge:

Falcons View Manor offers two lounges with spectacular lagoon views.

The formal library has comfortable couches upon which to while away lazy days with a fantastic book or to catch up on daily news.

The Loerie Lounge is the only room in the house allowing smoking. Bright and airy, it invites you into its warm and freshly decorated ambience.

Bar:
The Bar at Falcons View is the epitomy of style, opening out onto the terrace with its spectacular views over Knysna and the lagoon. Relax and enjoy pre-dinner drinks or savour a beautiful sunset whilst you mingle with other GUESTS. The perfect place for a nightcap or flavour filled espresso.

Restaurant:
The extravagant Dining Room is perhaps the piece de la resistance. Seated below exquisite chandeliers, gourmet meals can be savored and fine wines enjoyed.

Pool:
The Garden provides endless opportunites for GUESTS to unwind. Stroll through the grounds and take in the sights and sounds of numerous bird species and even vervet monkeys. The pool is nestled within the perfectly manicured lawn, sparkling in the crisp Knysna air. A perfect setting for poolside cocktails and soaking up the Garden Route sun.

Activities:
Surrounded by lagoon, sea, mountains and forest, Knysna boasts outdoor lifestyle like no other. From bungee jumping to shopping, cultural and art tours to beaches ... its all available here for you to enjoy.

Birdwatching: Knysna boasts more than 240 terrestrial and marine species, 40 pelagic species and some of the rarest and the most beautiful birds you'll ever see. African black oystercatchers, Knysna warblers, Knysna loeries and malachite kingfishers.

Restaurants: Knysna is a coastal town and the flavours of the ocean influence much of its cuisine. Expect the freshest seafood - from the catch-of-the-day to coastal and cultured Knysna oysters. From world class cuisine to convenient street food, Knysna's restaurants promote the real wonder of food.

Cultural: Art galleries, boutiques and authentic African traders are part of every visitor's Knysna experience. Knysna's natural beauty and cosmopolitan community inspire a unique creativity in artists - both local and international - making it the art capital of the region. Various rambles and craft routes allow visitors to enjoy the local craftwork, its history and its people. Zulu, English, Xhosa, Afrikaans and even Rastafarian are just a few of the languages you'll hear on the streets and with them come an extraordinary mix of cultures - all with their own rich stories to tell.

No surprise - Knysna is both nationally and internationally recognized as South Africa's Favourite town
